In February of 2007, Komen for the Cure honored Bosom Buddies, Friends for Life as the group to receive the Outstanding Volunteer Award for 2006. The award is given annually by the national Susan G. Komen office to one local organization chosen among those nominated by all Komen affiliate offices. Lyn Castellano was flown to the 2007 Komen Affiliate Conference in Dallas, Texas as a Bosom Buddies representative. After accepting the award on behalf of the team, Lyn gave a speech recognizing the importance of each member of Bosom Buddies. This prestigious recognition is a tribute to the great team that has been built over the years. |

Joe Castellano was chosen as a member of the inagural Pink Tie Guy class of 2009-2010. He is married to Lyn Castellano, who founded Bosom Buddies, Friends for Life, a benefactor for Susan G. Komen for the Cure St. Louis that has raised over $540,000 for the fight against breast cancer since its 1995 inception. They have two children, Alison and Adam. |
About The Pink Tie Guys: The men have received a Komen-inspired necktie to wear throughout the year, on specific days and to Komen St. Louis events. These men support and will draw attention to our promise by wearing his tie and speaking about the importance of doing everything we can to find the cures for breast cancer.
